Hello! My name is Nathanael Hofstetter Ressler, the pastor here at Maple Grove Mennonite Church. I am so glad you stopped by our little website. Send me an email; I would love to connect with you! 

We all are invited to be the love of Jesus to everyone, to care for the vulnerable and the marginalized, and live in beloved community! I care a lot about people’s stories, exegeting the Bible well, pursuing Jesus’ call to be peacemakers, and embracing the spiritual discipline of mystery. 

I am married to Savanah and we have two big energetic dogs, Midna and Kiba. Savanah and I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, playing with our pups, board/video games, watching anime, and most other nerdy pursuits. I watch a lot of soccer (Arsenal, NC Courage, USWNT, USMNT), and follow the Cavaliers, the Guardians, and Ohio State football. I am a graduate of Hesston College, Eastern Mennonite University, and have a Master of Divinity from Eastern Mennonite Seminary.

I also serve on the board of the Hartville Migrant Ministry and speak Spanish at an intermediate level.

I joined Maple Grove as a part-time associate pastor in 2025. I’m semi-retired but grateful for the opportunity to serve the church community.

Ruthie (my wife) and I grew up in the Hartville community but then spent 40 years working in international education and church outreach. We kept a home in Virginia but spent some years living in Germany, China, Canada and Thailand. I enjoy listening to and learning from people’s stories and sharing my own experiences while continuing to seek God’s wisdom as we raise questions together.

My educational background includes studying English at Malone College and graduate degrees in linguistics, religion and missiology. I enjoy reading and researching history of all kinds and beginning writing projects (which occasionally find completion).

Ruthie and I have two adult children who share our love of exploration and learning.
